Stephen L. Tidland, SVP/Manager of Commerce National Bank’s Equipment Finance Department, came to Commerce National Bank with over 30 years of equipment leasing and finance experience. After graduating from Long Beach State, and while working on his MBA at USC, Mr. Tidland’s career started at Union Bank, where, after completing their management training and credit analysis programs, he helped to establish a program for financing equipment lease companies. After building his experiences at Well Fargo Leasing, Chemical (Bank) Business Credit and Sumitomo Bank, he spent twenty years with Golden West Financial Service, serving as their Chief Credit Officer and later as President. Golden West, initially an independent vehicle and equipment leasing company, was acquired by Citizens Business Bank in 2002 and Mr. Tidland served as a CBB SVP/Manager until joining Commerce National Bank in June 2008. Mr. Tidland is active in leasing associations, has presented at industry forums and holds the leasing industry’s highest accreditation, that of a Certified Lease Professional.
